Helping Teens Move from Curiosity to Opportunity

Trim Tab creates hands-on programs that help middle and high school students gain experience, support, and access to new possibilities

What We Do

TrimTab works with community and corporate partners to design hands-on learning experiences that matter in today’s and tomorrow’s world. Our instructors bring first-hand industry experience so students work on challenges that look and feel like the careers they’re preparing to enter.

Our mission is to help students discover "What's Next" by exploring what excites them and connecting with mentors, projects, and opportunities that help them keep growing.

Through SPARK, IGNITE, and LAUNCH experiences, students move from early exploration with modern tools, to building skills, to eventually applying those skills in projects, internships, and youth-led work experiences.

SPARK Curiosity

Explore new interests.

Middle school students tackle creative challenges and explore tools like robotics, AI, coding, and 3D design through hands-on experiences that build confidence, curiosity, and a clearer sense of what they want to pursue next.

IGNITE Potential

Build real skills.

Students go deeper through multi-week experiences that deepen their skillsets, grow their confidence, and cultivate teamwork. They learn by designing and creating projects—like games, models, and products—that mirror real work environments.

LAUNCH Promising Futures

Put skills into action.

Older high school students apply their skills in real-world settings through projects, internships, and youth-led work experiences. Along the way, they connect with mentors who can help them explore where their interests might lead next.

What Makes Trim Tab Different

More than a one-time camp: Trim Tab helps students answer "What's Next?" by moving from exploring their interests to building skills to applying them in the real world, helping them shape futures of their own choosing.

Learning by doing: Rather than sitting through lecture-based instruction, our students use modern tools and technologies to solve problems and test ideas while taking on challenges tied to themes like sustainability, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.

Connected to the real world: Our industry-experienced instructors and community partners—such as PROG Development Center and Utah STEM Action Center—help students see where their interests can lead and connect with people, projects, and opportunities they may not reach on their own.

Student Stories

“This is the first place where I feel comfortable trying things and not being scared to mess up. We actually celebrate mistakes...and learn from them.”

Lorna, Age 16

Power of Partners

TrimTab partners with schools, community organizations, employers, and funders to create hands-on STEM and maker experiences that move youth and emerging adults from curiosity to real-world opportunity. Together, we co-design programs, host workshops and camps, and open pathways like site visits, youth-led projects, and early work experiences that many young people would never access on their own.

These partnerships are vital to our success: they keep our programs grounded in local needs and cultures, expand access for underrepresented youth, and connect learners to real tools, mentors, and opportunities across the region. By collaborating instead of duplicating efforts, we help partners strengthen their own missions while building a more connected, opportunity-rich ecosystem for young people.
