What We Do

Working with community and corporate partners, TrimTab designs learning experiences around the skills, tools, and mindsets that matter in today’s and tomorrow’s jobs. Instructors and partners bring first-hand industry experience, current technology, and real constraints, so teens work on challenges that look and feel like the environments they are preparing to enter.

Through SPARK, IGNITE, and LAUNCH, participants move from early exploration with modern tools, to building real capability, to applying those skills in authentic projects, internships, and youth-led work experiences.

SPARK Curiosity
A spark, a horizon, a moment of discovery.

Hands-on exploration and early exposure, primarily for middle school youth. Youth try robotics, AI, VR/AR, coding, design thinking, 3D design, and fabrication in environments built for curiosity and confidence.
IGNITE Potential
Fully engaged, learning through doing.

Cohort-based, multi-week experiences for middle and high school youth that deepen skills, identity, and teamwork. Participants design, build, and refine tangible projects—such as games, products, and maker work—that mirror real studio and startup workflows.
LAUNCH Promising Futures
A path forward, a doorway, a connection.

Real-world opportunities for older teens and emerging adults: advanced cohorts, partner-driven projects, site visits, internships, micro-internships, and youth-led work roles. Participants connect skills to networks, mentors, and pathways that influence education, work, and personal direction.
Trim Tab's Unique Approach
Trim Tab creates hands-on learning environments where young people discover their strengths, build confidence, and connect with mentors and partners who support self-directed, purposeful futures.

-
Flagship STEM program: Since 2023, our flagship SPARK program has served more than 1,200 middle school students in nearly 100 schools along the Wasatch Front through immersive, 3-week STEM summer camps, open houses and visits to schools and communities.

-
Modern tools, real projects: Our students actively engage with robotics, drones, Artificial Intelligence, VR/AR, coding, design thinking, 3D design, and 3D printing, all tied to real-world themes like sustainability, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.

-
Partner-powered delivery: Programming is often delivered with key partners such as PROG Development Center, Utah STEM Action Center, Craft Lake City, and local chambers and community groups, ensuring broad and inclusive access.

-
Complete and sustainable ecosystem: Mentoring, peer leadership, LAUNCH experiences and profitable social enterprises expand programs into an ongoing pathway of guidance, access, and real opportunities.

Power of Partners
TrimTab partners with schools, community organizations, employers, and funders to create hands-on STEM and maker experiences that move youth and emerging adults from curiosity to real-world opportunity. Together, we co-design programs, host workshops and camps, and open pathways like site visits, youth-led projects, and early work experiences that many young people would never access on their own.

These partnerships are vital to our success: they keep our programs grounded in local needs and cultures, expand access for underrepresented youth, and connect learners to real tools, mentors, and opportunities across the region. By collaborating instead of duplicating efforts, we help partners strengthen their own missions while building a more connected, opportunity-rich ecosystem for young people.
